The paints used by Facial Impressions are all water based and designed for use on the face. A clean sponge is used for each child and all the equipment is thoroughly cleaned after each event. Facial Impressions hold full Public Liability Insurance for painting at various events and parties.

Children under 3 years old should not get their faces painted as their immune systems have not fully developed and they are more likely to develop an allergic reaction to highly pigmented cosmetics. Hand/arm designs are recommended for young children, however if a child is desperate to get their face painted, they may be painted at the painter’s discretion. Please note that designs may be simplified/modified for especially wriggly children. If your child is upset during the painting or no longer wants to be painted, we will stop immediately. Children will not be forced to sit for the painting if they do not want to. Parents/guardians should not leave their children unattended whilst they are at the face painting station. It is the adult’s responsibility to make sure that children do not touch any of the face painting equipment.

Please ensure your child’s face is clean before getting their face painted.

Please note: Your child cannot be painted if: they have sensitive skin or have had an allergic reaction to face paint in the past. they have eczema, cold sores, conjunctivitis, styes, chicken pox, severe acne, open cuts, new bruising or any 0ther infectious skin conditions they have the flu, a cold or if they have head lice.

Parents, please read this and keep this in mind whenever you go to get your child’s face painted. Your child might be upset at not being allowed to get their face painted, but in the long run, it is better for them and any other children who will be getting their faces painted that day.

Tips for Removing Face Paint

Make sure you remove the face paint before your child goes to bed. Use a mild soap, like baby shampoo, work it into the skin dry avoiding the eye area. Use a wet face cloth to wash it off without scrubbing too hard. This should remove the face paint effectively.

If there are any stains left on the skin, use a skin friendly oil, such as baby oil or an oil based make up remover on a cotton pad and gently massage it into the skin.

As the paints used are water based, they tend to make the skin a little dehydrated, so applying a light layer of face moisturiser can help.

Please do not use baby wipes to remove the face paint, the oils in the baby wipes can cause irritation or reaction to the paint. They also cause the paints to stain the skin and make it very difficult to remove.

Most reactions to face paint are caused by an inappropriate removal method or the paint mixing with other products on the skin. You can help avoid these reactions by making sure your child’s face is clean before they get painted and removing the paint using the tips above. Please remember to be very gentle with your child’s skin and not scrub too hard.
