A little bit about Facial Impressions

Jill Young

Mermaid Butterfly

Jill is originally from Greenock, Inverclyde where she grew up and lived until she got married in 2015. Jill has been very interested in crafting, such as card making and scrapbooking since she was a teenager and is pretty much willing to try her hand at anything artistic… just don’t ask her to sketch people! That’s a skill she’s never mastered. She also has a keen interest in photography and loves going for a wander with her camera. She first started painting by doing her face as a tiger for a themed birthday party for her best friend in 2012. She kept dabbling with face painting on and off for different charity and church events whilst working and training as a youth worker at the International Christian College in Glasgow. Soon the fondness of face painting turned into an all-out passion and her kit quickly grew. Jill graduated from the International Christian College in June 2014 with a BA Youth and Community Work with Applied Theology. On leaving college, she continued working as a Youth Worker with a charity in Inverclyde for the next couple of years. After getting married, Jill and her husband, Andrew, moved to Rutherglen near Glasgow City Centre where Jill’s obsession with her ever-growing face painting kit began to take over their small flat. It was at that point that Andrew suggested that starting a business might be the best next move. After doing some training and spending many, many hours practicing her twirls, curls, tear drops and flicks, Facial Impressions was launched. Jill and Andrew now live in Dalry, North Ayrshire with their cat, Calvin, where Jill has more space to spread her painting equipment out!
